Feel the fear and do it anyway

October 14, 2018 By Michelle Rogers

I had quite a thrill recently when I heard my name and words on one of my favorite business and motivational podcasts, the Ziglar Show. The host had posed the question: "What have you achieved while still being scared?" My response was among those chosen to be discussed! You can hear it at the 28:00 mark of Episode 618. But I'd suggest listening to the whole episode -- and subscribing to Continue Reading

VIDEO: How to pick blueberries

It's blueberry season! Last weekend, I did something I'd been wanting to do for a few years now -- blueberry picking. We have a number of u-pick farms in my area. I chose Minka Farm in Efland, N.C. I had the pleasure of visiting this lovely place on the Piedmont Farm Tour -- see my story here. Since it's my first time picking, I thought I'd contact the farm owner for some tips on what to do Continue Reading

A look back at six years

It's my blogiversary: A look back

This week I celebrate the 6th anniversary of launching my blog. On July 3, 2012, I was SO nervous, you have no idea! It took me a while to press “publish,” and I was shaking when I did. And then, I didn't even tell anyone about the blog for some time. It felt so...personal. While I’d worked in communications my whole career, writing about myself — and things so intensely personal like body Continue Reading

Hillsborough tour spotlights early American history — on a bike

June 16, 2018 By Michelle Rogers

On Saturday, I really enjoyed participating in an event called "Bike Though Time in Historic Hillsborough (N.C.)". Thank you to historian Ernest Dollar and the Orange County Historical Museum for organizing this. It was so interesting! We learned about the town’s rich history from Dollar, an engaging storyteller. He is the director of the City of Raleigh Museum, and a former director of the Continue Reading

Graham Walks helps community take millions of steps

June 3, 2018 By Michelle Rogers

I was proud to partner once again with the City of Graham Recreation and Parks Department on a wonderful community initiative, Graham Walks. The spring 2018 Graham Walks Program lasted for 5 weeks from April 4-May 9. It’s a self-paced program to help participants average 7K steps a day. Incentives include the opportunity to win one of several grand prizes. As you can see on the above Continue Reading

Ladies celebrate National Trails Day with a hike

June 3, 2018 By Michelle Rogers

I was excited to lead a women's hike on June 2, National Trails Day! National Trails Day is an annual initiative of the American Hiking Society to encourage everyone to experience the great outdoors. Events are held across the country. We explored the lovely Mountain Loop Trail at the Occoneechee Mountain State Natural Area in Hillsborough, N.C. This scenic trail goes through the woods, Continue Reading
