I was at the store the other day, contemplating the cool whip I needed for the shortcake I wanted to make…looked at the ingredients and just couldn’t bring myself to buy that. So I trotted down to the dairy case and grabbed a little carton of organic heavy whipping cream instead.
Homemade whipped cream is SO FREAKING EASY to make, and tastes 10x better than the stuff in the plastic tub or spray can! Here’s how to make it:
- 1 cup heavy whipping cream
- 3 tablespoons confectioners’ sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
Using the whisking beaters on your mixer, beat cream until it begins to thicken. Once slightly thickened, add the confectioners’ sugar and vanilla. Continue beating until soft peaks form. Keep refrigerated.
