REVIEW: AfterShokz Bone Conduction Headphones for safer running, walking and cycling

Every now and then, I come across a truly outstanding product — something that is such a favorite that I use it on practically a daily basis. AfterShokz Wireless Boneless Conduction Headphones is definitely that. These headphones are something I had been wanting for quite some time, so I was SOOO excited to finally have a pair of my own!

I’m a big believer in the power of music to help fuel my workouts, whether indoors or outside. I use music to set my pace on power walks and bike rides, and setting an intentional playlist of songs with certain beats-per-minute helps me do intervals.

But I also know the importance of personal safety when using music outdoors. It’s vitally important to be able to hear what’s going on around you – whether it’s oncoming cars, people or animals. This is something I emphasize in my power walking workshop and with my personal training clients.

Up until now, I’ve used a traditional wireless or wired earbud but in one ear only, with one side in my ear and the other tucked into my bra strap. This method works, but can be a bit awkward.

Enter this revolutionary product, AfterShokz Wireless Bone Conduction Headphones. They do not go inside your ears or cover them at all. They use your cheekbones to deliver the music to your inner ears. Pretty wild science!

Do they work? YES! How does it sound? GREAT!

Are they comfortable? YES! The headphones fit comfortably behind your head and over your ears. They are lightweight and sweatproof, and flexible but stay in place.

They even fit great while using my bike helmet, and with or without a ponytail.

It’s pretty amazing the first time you try them, to be able to hear music and still hear what’s going on around you. However, if you don’t want to hear externally (for example, you’re on a plane or in a crowded gym), the AfterShokz come with a set of noise-cancelling earplugs.

Other features include:

  • 6 hours of battery life – and my experience is this is true. The battery life is far superior to my other wireless earbuds.
  • Bluetooth connectivity – haven’t had a moment’s trouble with this. Works great with my iPhone.
  • Built-in microphone – you can answer calls, voice dial, and more.
  • 2-year warranty

The model I have is called the Trekz Titanium. It comes in the following colors: red, gray, green, pink, or blue.

I could go on and on telling you about how great the AfterShokz are, but you really just need to try them for yourself and see. Go ahead and get yourself a pair. I’m certain you will be glad you did!  You can purchase them on Amazon.

A big thank you to my social media buddy, fellow fitness enthusiast and AfterShokz brand ambassador Frank Nardomarino for introducing me to the Trekz Titanium!
