Looking for a great gift for an active family member, a friend looking to get fit, or for yourself? I’m here to help! Here are 12 highly-rated, awesome gift ideas I’ve hand-selected for this year’s Guide. They are all conveniently available from Amazon, who saves Christmas for me every year. See descriptions of these items, below.
– Wi-Fi Smart Scale. The Aria Fitbit scale syncs automatically and wirelessly to your private Fitbit account. No more writing down your weight or having to manually track anything! And your whole family can use it — it automatically recognizes up to eight different people.
– Bluetooth Stereo Headphones with Mic. When you’re out running or exercising, you need earbuds that stay put. And bluetooth so there are no more wires in the way. This model features both of those things, and the earbuds are also magnetic. When you are done with your music or phone call, simply attach the headphones together and wear like a necklace.
– Amazon gift cards – You really can’t go wrong with this option! A physical card in a gift box can be ordered and shipped directly to the recipient; or you can send an e-gift card directly via email or text message; or, you can do my favorite option for family and friends — make a Print-At-Home Gift Card, wrap in a small box and set it under the tree so you can give it to them in person.
– Sabre Red Pepper Spray for runners, walkers and cyclists. What better to give someone you care about than the gift of safety and security? See my full review here.
– A nice warm jacket for outdoor fitness. Just because it’s winter doesn’t mean your running, walking, cycling or other outdoor activities have to end — as long as you have the right active wear to keep you warm! The Under Armour Men’s UA Run ColdGear Infrared Hybrid Jacket and The North Face Women’s Thermoball Full Zip Jacket both come highly recommended from users.
– Wearable fitness tech that does more than just count steps. The new generation of wearable tech helps you get the most of your workouts by tracking heart rate so you can stay in your zone. The new Fitbit Charge 2 does that, and includes a bunch of other useful features like reminders to move, sleep tracker, and text and call notifications on the customizable screen. Another highly recommended wearable is the Polar M200 GPS Running Watch with Wrist-Based Heart Rate, which includes GPS.
– Hiking shoes. Okay, this is one I am secretly hoping Santa brings me! I love going hiking but I’ve been doing so in my running shoes. That works fine on flat surfaces, but not well at all on anything rocky, slippery or downhill. I’ve come close to turning an ankle on a mountain trail, for lack of support. Definitely invest in a good pair of hiking shoes or boots! The Timberland Women’s Chocorua Trail Boot and the Merrell Men’s Moab Ventilator Hiking Shoe are both highly rated.
– Fitness basics for beginners. Yoga remains one of the hottest workouts around. This Yoga Starter Set includes all you need: Yoga mat, set of two lightweight foam Yoga blocks, a wide Yoga strap, an absorbent Yoga towel, all matching in your choice of colors. And for those getting started with strength training, this affordable dumbbell set with stand includes 3 pairs in 2-pound, 3-pound, and 5-pound sizes — a super value!
– TrailHeads Women’s Power Ponytail Headband. This unique design keeps your ears and head warm, your hair out of the way, and the bright color with reflective accent increases your visibility for safety. Great for running or walking, or cycling (worn under your helmet).
– Effective, fun workout videos. I’ve included the Brazil Butt Lift DVDs in a previous gift guide, and it’s still such a favorite of mine that it’s here again!
– Treadmill. Walking on a treadmill is how I lost 60 lbs. and what propelled me to success in my fitness and weight loss journey, so obviously I highly recommend it! A great one I found on Amazon is the LifeSpan TR 1200i Folding Treadmill with Lubricant and Mat Bundle. I can tell you from experience that if you get a treadmill, you’ll definitely want a good mat for underneath it to protect your floor and to reduce static on your machine. This is one of the few models I’ve seen that comes with a mat and lubricant; otherwise you’ll need to purchase those items separately.
– Countertop Convection Oven. At first glance, this might seem out of place with the other items in my list. But cooking our own meals has been a critical part of maintaining good health and weight loss. An oven like this is something we use daily in our house and have for years. In fact, we rarely use our big oven. The countertop convection oven cooks 25% faster, more evenly, and uses less energy. So I can confidently recommend one as a very useful gift!
