Do you work out with weights? Strength training is a regular part of my fitness regime and I’m so glad it is. While I started this later in life, the important thing is I started.
“Use it or lose it” is how your body works when it comes to muscle. Most of us are probably aware of that. But did you know that the benefits of strength training don’t stop there? Working with weights also strengthens your bones — and strong bones are vitally important to healthy aging. Every time you work with weights, you are helping your future self by preventing bone loss, muscle deterioration, pain and potential injury!
I love feeling stronger. It’s so empowering. Things that used to be hard for me — like picking up a case of water bottles at the grocery store — are no big deal now. Also, exercising has greatly reduced the back and neck pain I used to deal with.
As a beginner, I started small and worked my way up gradually. When I leveled up from neoprene-covered dumbbells to the larger and heavier metal ones, this was challenging not only from a strength perspective but because using heavy metal weights on your bare hands can be difficult. Pinched skin, and worrying that I might drop them for lack of a good grip, are two issues I faced.

It is a simple and functional design: neoprene pads that follow the shape of each hand, with an elastic band to help hold in place. They work for men or women and come in small, medium and large, with sizing dependent on your height. I’m using medium and they are a perfect fit.
One thing I really like about using these pads versus a traditional glove is that they are so easy to put on and remove. This is great when you are doing a variety of moves and want to be able to quickly switch up without having to stop and peel off a glove or pull one on. They can be used not only for free weights, but for cross fit, machines, pull ups, rowing, etc.
