Suave Professionals Keratin Infusion Smoothing Conditioner – As I mentioned previously, I have been on the hunt for a good shampoo and conditioner to replace WEN Six Thirteen and WEN Cleansing Conditioner. WEN works well, but the bottom line is I want something more affordable, and one that I can get locally without having to order online. I have to say I was very pleasantly surprised with Suave’s Keratin Infusion Smoothing Conditioner. I wasn’t expecting that my WEN replacement might be a drugstore brand, but I’m so glad I found this. I have been using it for several months now, and it really works great. I find that I do need to follow it with a leave-in conditioner, however, for optimal results. 28 oz., $4.98, Walmart
Rock Your Hair Leave-In Conditioner – This is a fantastic spray conditioner, which I use prior to blow drying. It detangles wonderfully and leaves my hair soft and shiny, without being greasy. $13.97, Walmart.com
Rock Your Hair Spray It Hard – This is a superb hair spray that, although it says “hard” in the title, does not make my hair crunchy. It also doesn’t gum up on my hair, or flake when dry, like a number of other hair sprays do; and it dries quickly. I’ve been through more hair sprays than I can count over the years, and this one definitely ranks as one of the best I’ve tried. $14.97, Walmart.com
Stila Stay All Day Waterproof Liquid Eyeliner – I first learned about this eyeliner at Fitness Magazine’s Blogger event in New York City, where it was included in our gift bag. I love using liquid eyeliners, but my issue with most of them is that they do not produce a fine enough line and therefore lead to messy, uncontrolled results. Stila got it perfectly right with this product, though. It is a very fine felt-tip pen that dispenses just the right amount, in exactly the place you want it. It also dries quickly. The primary way I use this is to line my upper lash line prior to putting on mascara. I also use this product to touch up the glue line on top of false eyelashes when I wear them. Inevitably, dried glue shows and this eyeliner is great for coloring that in. $20.00, Ulta.
Urban Decay Anti-Aging Eyeshadow Primer Potion – Urban Decay makes a great eyeshadow base, which I first discovered when a small tube was included with the Naked Palette 1 eyeshadow collection. The anti-aging version of this primer also performs well. It contains ingredients that “fight wrinkles and improve tone and texture, while optical blurring pigments create a subtle, soft-focus effect that instantly wakes up tired eyes and minimizes the appearance of redness, crepiness and other imperfections.” $24.00, Ulta
